Health Care Forum: Adverse Childhood Experiences
1 W. 3rd St., Ste. 100
Saint Francis Health System Room
Tulsa, OK 74103
The Tulsa Regional Chamber will host a Health Care Forum to Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs). In the United States, the total lifetime economic burden associated with child abuse and neglect was about $124 billion in 2008. This economic burden rivals the cost of other high profile public health problems, such as stroke and type 2 diabetes. The majority of this cost is from productivity lost in adulthood.
OU-Tulsa and Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences researchers will discuss the problem of ACEs in Oklahoma, the prevalence, and what they are doing to address the issue in adults through healthcare education.
