The featured speaker, Kansas Health Foundation President and CEO Ed O'Malley, will speak about upward mobility, and how his non-profit uses this term to describe what it takes to clear that path so that everyone has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their starting point. For many, the path to a healthy life is shaped by factors far beyond their control, like access to affordable housing, good jobs and quality childcare.

In KHF's Economic Case for Health report, it was noted that declining health is a direct threat to the state’s workforce productivity and fiscal stability.

“For far too long, we’ve treated health and the economy as two separate goals,” said O'Malley. “This report connects them. We know that to have a prosperous Kansas, we must have a healthy Kansas.”

O'Malley will speak on how advocates, experts and community partners are working on the issue and building a shared vision for action grounded in what’s working, what’s needed and what matters most.
