About the event

The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits (OKCNP) and the Tulsa Regional Chamber’s membership team are co-hosting a celebration in honor of National Nonprofit Day, hosted by JA BizTown.

National Nonprofit Day is observed annually on Aug. 17 to honor the contributions of charitable organizations and encourage support through volunteering, donations and awareness. NND celebrates the vital role that nonprofit organizations play in communities and the broader world. Nonprofits provide essential services such as education, healthcare, housing, legal aid and social support, often reaching populations that might otherwise be underserved. The observance highlights the impact of these organizations on society, including their economic contributions.

Refreshments will be served and attendees will have the opportunity to explore JA BizTown and mimic what students experience when learning real-life job skills. 

Its timing coincides with historical legislation, such as the Tariff Act of 1894, which included exemptions for nonprofit corporations and charitable institutions, laying the foundation for nonprofit recognition in U.S. law.

Cost

This event is free to attend for all Tulsa Regional Chamber and Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits members, and $15 for non-members.
