Tulsa’s Young Professionals names David Tollette as executive director

(TULSA, Okla.) — Tulsa’s Young Professionals (TYPROS)—the young professionals organization housed at the Tulsa Regional Chamber—announced the hiring of David Tollette as executive director. Tollette has served as interim executive director of TYPROS since May of this year and will now transition into fully taking over the position.

Tollette comes into this role with previous board experience that includes work with the Tulsa Community Foundation and on Tulsa Regional Tourism. He also served as the 2021 TYPROS Chair.

“David graciously stepped into the role of interim executive director of TYPROS earlier this year and has done an excellent job of engaging young leaders,” says Justin McLaughlin, executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Tulsa Regional Chamber. “He has been one of the most active members of TYPROS and has qualities to ensure that the organization remains successful into the future. We look forward to his continued leadership in this role.”

Founded as an initiative of the Tulsa Regional Chamber in April 2005, TYPROS was created with the mission to attract and retain young, creative talent to the Tulsa region, while also developing the next generation of leaders and enhancing Tulsa’s sense of place.

“I am humbled and excited to take on this role,” says Tollette “The previous executive directors of TYPROS are my role models, and I strive to create a similar impact in the organization and the Tulsa region that they have achieved. I am constantly impressed by the members and leaders of TYPROS, and I’ve never had more belief in the potential of our team.”

After 17 years of connection, conversation, development and activism, TYPROS has become one of the leading young professionals groups in the nation. The TYPROS mission has evolved over the years to focus on making Tulsa an awesome city for young professionals to live, work and play.

Major TYPROS initiatives include Street Cred, the group’s community redevelopment project, and Boomtown Awards, the largest annual fundraiser benefitting the TYPROS Foundation.

Each year Street Cred focuses on a different neighborhood or area in Tulsa and highlights opportunities for commercial and residential development. Street Cred started in 2011 to highlight the Pearl District’s potential for development and has since looked at areas like downtown parking lots, Red Fork and South Peoria.

At Boomtown Awards, TYPROS honors local young professionals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations, and the TYPROS Foundation announces grant funding for placemaking projects. These grants have funded projects such as the Tulsa Flag and the Greenwood Reflection Garden which opened earlier this year. This year’s Boomtown Awards takes place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa this Saturday, November 5. Tickets are available now at typros.org/boomtownawards.
