A U.S. Army veteran who served as a platoon leader in Iraq, Garrison Haning noticed something disturbing during his service.

Training was killing and injuring significantly more soldiers than combat.

“I remember looking at that and thinking to myself, ‘There has to be a better way to do this,’” Haning said. “Why is this happening?”

That led Haning to develop Safety Radar, an AI-driven safety intelligence company.

Haning, along with Quillify CEO Wesley Stevens, shared their startup stories Thursday at the Tulsa Regional Chamber’s Technology Council meeting, which was held at the local innovation and venture studio Gitwit.

The meeting was sponsored by OU-Tulsa.

Safety Radar’s platform converts frontline safety inputs into immediate, actionable safety intelligence. The company was named 2025 Most Promising New Venture by the Oklahoma Venture Forum, the state’s preeminent organization fostering innovation and growth.

“This time last year, we were about 24 thousand dollars a year in revenue,” Haning said. “This is our first month at about 550K in revenue. Hopefully, if we play our cards right, we will get to that million-dollar mark by the end of this year.”

Using artificial intelligence, Quillify streamlines grant-seeking and proposal writing for businesses, nonprofits and universities.

It has helped acquire more than $5 million for businesses, non-profits, and R1, or doctoral, universities, according to the Stevens’ LinkedIn page.

The Tech Council crowd of about 25 also listened to a sponsor presentation from OU-Tulsa’s Dr. Teri Reed, a company overview from Gitwit’s Mike Noshay and an update on Tulsa Tech Week (Sept. 22-27) from Organizely’s Tai Nehisi.

The Tech Council provides quarterly networking opportunities in which Chamber members in the tech industry can discuss key issues impacting their business and the sector.
