Manufacturers in the region should be thinking about the space sector.

That was the sentiment shared by The Artemis Group President Gabe Sherman on Feb. 19 at the Tulsa Regional Chamber’s Manufacturers’ Council meeting at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum.

The Artemis Group is led by former NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, who served as the U.S. Representative for Oklahoma's 1st Congressional District from January 2013 to April 2018. The Chamber worked with The Artemis Group and others to recruit Agile Space Industries, which in January broke ground on a Space Test Center in Tulsa.

Before about 50 attendees, Sherman talked about how manufacturers can pivot to the space industry and why marketing matters.

Heather Turner, of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, discussed incentive opportunities in the state, and Michael Tate, of Infinite Composites, shared how his company branched into space from Althe energy sector.

Also, Stacey Schmidt (OGI Process Equipment), assumed the council’s presidential gavel from Joey Lada (Greenheck Group).

The meeting was sponsored by Arvest. For more information about the Manufacturers' Council, please call Angie Zaricor, a senior director of economic development at the Chamber, at 918-560-0217.
