We are about halfway through 2026, but it is not too late for your organization’s young professionals to join TYPROS, a Community Development initiative of the Tulsa Regional Chamber that centers around the mission of developing leaders, connecting people and engaging in the community.
The work of TYPROS, Tulsa’s Young Professionals organization, envisions a Tulsa in which young professionals are equipped, connected and confident in their ability to lead. Plus, it’s free to join.
TYPROS is “accessible at any point in your journey,” said Hayden Hanoch, vice president of commercial banking at Gateway and 2026 TYPROS chair. This includes recent high school and college graduates just beginning their careers, as well as those who have just moved to the Tulsa region.
“There truly is no ‘right time’ or prerequisite to jump back in,” he said. “You don’t need to have attended earlier events or know anyone beforehand. Every event is an opportunity to plug in, meet people and find your place.”
Through intentionally crafted events, initiatives and professional development experiences, TYPROS creates pathways that prepare emerging leaders to engage deeply, contribute meaningfully and step into civic and business leadership roles that shape the future of our community. Here’s a look at some of those upcoming events:
11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, June 3:
Career Cost: Climbing the Ladder, Counting the Cost
Career growth isn’t just about moving up. It’s about understanding what comes with it. Edgar Bermudez, executive director of Global Banking at Wells Fargo, will speak at this “Lunch & Learn” event that unpacks the realities of advancement — the tradeoffs, expectations and decisions that shape your path.
This features two days of programming, and the first night is just in time for the June 16 primary election. A candidate meet-and-greet that is open to everyone will feature Tulsa City Council, state House and state Senate and Congressional District 1 candidates.
On Saturday, June 13, young professionals will have a full day of programming with people and organizations that are leading in meaningful capacities in Tulsa, inspiring them to explore what leadership in Tulsa might mean for them.
TYPROS Executive Director Reagan Gowens noted that this a completely revamped 918 Lead for all interested in leadership, not just elected office.
“Be it running for office, running a non-profit or sitting on a non-profit board, this program is for young professionals ready to start exploring what shape their leadership will take,” she said.
5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 16:
Pub Club
Just looking for a casual networking event to see what TYPROS is all about? Soma will host the monthly Pub Club event for an evening of casual connection, good conversations and a chance to meet other young professionals from across Tulsa.
No matter your current level of involvement, it’s the perfect time to learn more about what your community has to offer, and what you have to offer the community.
“What really sets Tulsa apart is that it feels like the biggest ‘small town’ you’ll ever experience,” Hanoch said. “You’re often just one conversation, one introduction or one phone call away from a meaningful opportunity, whether that’s advancing your career, launching an idea or getting involved in something that creates real change. That level of access and connection is both rare and incredibly powerful.”
